I have a 1963 or 1964 Riviera air cleaner that I plan to use on a 1965 Skylark GS. The air cleaner has a red crinkle coat from the factory paint that I plan to remove and Paint it black for my GS. Question: is this crinkle coat something that someone would want that I should not remove? The air cleaner will work fine on my engine.

    Strip it!
If you ever sell it then that person can have it powder coated in wrinkle finish which will be more durable then the original enamel anyway!

wrinkle finish is a royal pain in the ass to keep clean, I often wonder why it was ever used in vehicles.

You may want to post it in parts for sale first and see if there is any interest.

One in excellent condition can bring BIG $$$$ in the '63 Riviera world especially IF it has the 465 on it.

Can you post a picture? The first project I ever did was stripping the paint on our ‘63 riviera’s air cleaner. I was 4 or 5. It’s a 465/425 cu in car so curious what it should look like from the factory
