I am about to remove the windshield from my convertible. I would like to remove it in ONE peice. I have read a lot of info on the removal of the stainless steel trim around the windsheild; however, I believe it to be for the hardtop. How do you remove the side pillar stainless steel trim? I see only one screw at the top. I am sure could figuring it out in a couple of hours; but, why reinvent the wheel? Surely someone has had done this before and can save me the embarrasment of ordering a new windsheild.

    As always, thanks.

there are many threads on this subject - removing the stainless trim moldings & the glass . u will have to run a search for the info .
u will have to buy a tool to remove the trim moldings & maybe a length of piano wire to cut the sealant around the glass .
    good luck

Thanks. I think I bought the tool last night (I think, because it does several tasks, one of which is the removal of the clips).

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

    You will need four tools:

    1. Scredriver to remove the A-pillar post covers. Screws hidden under the SST trim.

    2. Clip removal tool, I believe that is the one you have.

    3. Cold knife, this is the proper tool to cut the "butyl tape" holding
the windshield to the frame. Do not use piano, this will break and place uneven stress on the glass causing the glass to crack.

    4. Utility knife.

Once you remove all the window trim, use a utility to outline the window, (scores the butyl tape). Remove any debris from the window channel preventing the cold knife from sliding between the glass edge and window frame edge. I usually start the cold knife on a corner at the base of the windshield. Slide the tip under the butyl tape, (takes some effort) and then keep the blade parallel with the glass surface. You will cut the butyl tape horizontally around the entire window perimeter. Once complete, have an assistant give you a hand to remove the window.

See the link below for more details and pics!

Oh yea, cold knife costs about $10-12 at many automotive stores.

    Good Luck!
