One of the push buttons on my door handle came loose and fell inside the door. Already took off the interior panel and retrieved it. I looked in the 1968 Service manual and it shows how the door handle parts come together, but doesn't show how the button extension connects to the inside mechanism for the door latch. Anybody have a diagram or an explanation of how they connect?

The button can't fall off the handle if everything is right. There's like a sliding piece that holds the button and shaft into the handle. it must have fallen off or broken.
Look at the aluminum piece around the push rod. That's what stops the button from falling out.

Fixed-all the parts were still there-nothing broken or missing. I guess the aluminum piece must have come loose somehow and allowed the button to fall through.
