We drove down to Florida from Atlanta and bought the GS. The vin checked out as a GS 455, I couldn’t check the motor ID because it had steel shim head gaskets, I figure that because there were was a number at the drivers first 2 spark plug location that matched a head gasket part number, the metal gasket covered the second location by other plugs location. I did identify the block casting as a 1970 455 and intake 1970 455. Its a bucket seat with console, it has a factory tach in dash. It had a vinyl top, Its rusty but restorable, it drives great and is tagged with title. We went for a drive last weekend, it spins and smokes tires with little effort, rear brakes were very tight and with the leaky wheel cylinders had a little smoldering issue that had to be put out with a garden hose. I replaced cylinders, shoes and drums yesterday. I have a shop space for my HVAC business with a 1968 Pontiac Lemans convertible thats frame off on a body cart I fabricated, it will be a restomod, its got a 428 bored roller cam lifters with elderbrock aluminum heads, 12 bolt rear 355 gear tubular control arms coil overs. Im making room for the buick to live indoors to get out of the rain. I want to make the pontiac a driver before I do much with the buick. I think the 70 to 72 buick GS is the best looking gm a body ever made and I always wanted one. Hoping this will be a great resource for restoration, no restomod with this one.

Welcome from Central Florida. I too just bought a '70 GS455 about 2 months ago. Good luck with yours. Also would like to see pics of your new baby.

It was green with black vinyl top, now its red oxide. Its got some rust thru where top was and rust thru behind fenders, got the brakes on backed out of garage and ignition switch would not turn, had to pull wire to shut off. I’m picking up ignition switch today. The wheel cylinder issue was a little worse than I thought, the heat from the fire caused a big bubble on tire by bead, an oh crap moment. Its a wild one, its got headers, 3 inch pipes with cross over and turbo mufflers, no tail pipes. Will take some pictures. Over the holiday I’m making room in the shop so it can live indoors, thank you!

Sounds like Sherwood Green, code 48? Very popular color. Mine is Seamist, code 45.

Rustaholic, great find on a more than great model. I drove quite a few of these, back when they were current. Never failed to bring a big smile.
