Hi I have just imported a 1967 Lesabre in to the Uk and am having a nightmare with the rear lights and indicators. The problem is the rear brake lights flashing when the indicators are used and apparently there is only 1 feed to the lights. Please, does anybody have any experience or solution for this problem, any tips, help, wiring solutions would be gratefully received as I am beginning to wonder if I will ever manage to drive this car on the roads here,
    many thanks,

    Jim

If I'm understanding this, the car is functioning as built but that doesn't comply, right? If so, perhaps you could isolate the inboard lights and provide their signal from the brake switch at the pedal. Did/do you have to change the blinkers to amber? I've seen a few US cars with amber lights that are screwed on, maybe isolating them is simplest.

hi Patrick ,many thanks for your post and help...up to 1965 red indicators were fine ( not sure about flashing stop lamps ) but annoyingly after that they are not permitted so it doesn't comply...added to the fact that, mechanics here in the UK are a nightmare and it took me doing a bit of research to find the answer ( I think) which is to leave the indicators, ( I have fitted temporary orange ones ) and run a new supply from the brake light switch to the rear thus by-passing the supply running through the flasher unit... tbh, it is driving me mad the lack of logical thought and indolence of english mechanics...anyway, many thanks for your input, fingers crossed this will work. I have driven it once and it has been stuck in the garage with these niggly problems for 2 weeks now and it is so frustrating, it is such a beautiful car

A friend of mine was in England until recently, spending time with a fellow who rebuilds motorcycles as both profession and hobby. He'd likely be able to either do the work or point you to a trustworthy guy. My friend is on this board, goes by Stephen in the USA. Give him a message and ask about contact info.
