hey guys I am currently trying to figure out it the 7.5 will be good enough if I put 28 spline axles in and posi diff. I was told from some people to toss it and get a 8.5 OR a 9 inch ford, but this is a budget build(man this builds going on longer than I wanted). what I got for a engine Buick 350 out of 71 Skylark bored .030, with lunati cam 275/285 and the valve springs to go with, 4 barrel stock intake modified with 650cfm holley carb, poston headers, accel dist, and the trans will be gone through and have the shift kit put in, have a hughes 2500rpm stall converter. not sure yet on what to run for gears. i would like a 8.5 but finding one in the state of Iowa not easy, no salvage yard has one. anyway guys any input would be great. thanks Josh
You'll be fine with 7.5 for awhile. I had one in my regal with a pretty stout 455 and it held up. Id put it down on the bucket list but for now you should be good to go.
455, 7.5 ,NON sticky tires (bfg 255/60 15) never hurt mine. Just took it out and might be listing the dif for sale soon, auburn pro posi. Good luck,
I have this laying here collecting dust if your interested, its a Strange 9 inch housing for a g-body. $375 takes it.
Another way to get a 7.5 to last is don't get to crazy on the gear in it. I would not recommend anything lower than a 3.73. Also, visit www.maliburacing.com and you might be surprised what is for sale in your area.
