What is the best way for me to change my 1967 Rivi GS standard open rear-end to a posi-traction rear-end? :3gears:

    Swap out

I've heard that it might be possible to change the inards of my existing rear end and replace them with posi inards. Looking at I think it's eaton. What I've heard is that you move your half moon clips, slide the axels out, pull the guts and replace with posi. Is this true? :Do No:

    switch on the posi

Yes as long as you have the same size ring rear size and type rear. example an open 8.5 28 spline carrier will fit in place of a posi 8.5 28 spline carrier that includes 2 series and 3 series carriers just make sure you use the proper gears with the proper carrier and or spacer if needed. The same holds true for every other GM rear too. 8.2 chevy open and posi interchange and bop 8.2 with open and posi 8.2 bolt in axle.
There are some exceptions like being able to use chevy 8.5 in a BOP 8.5 housing but not a BOP 8.5 in a chevy c-clip type rear because buick olds and pontiac have bolt in axles from the outside and do not require c-clips. Good luck with the swap. Need any more help and I will try oPH is a real good source for reference. Jim

Thanks Jim, you have been a great help. I will keep you up to date on how things go. And be sure that I will ask questions if I get stuck. Thanks again.
