Rear Disc Brake Conversion on GM A Body

I am curious if anyone has evr tried to do a rear disc brake conversion with off the shelf GM parts. I have considered doing this instead of shelling out the thousands that it would take to buy a kit. SSBC wants $2500. In my estimation there has to be a cadillac or a camaro that has the parts I desire. Or, maybe I should just transplant the entire independant rear suspension from a corvette into my beloved Buick! :laugh:
