Have you guys ever seen a rear brake drum with a Tri shield emblem cast into it? Usually very small on the outer edge of the face
Yes, and I believe I still have some stored in my garage, I usually found them on the 71 cars, and think my 71 GSX has them. I don't remember but the 71 cars with the front drums may have had them as well. They may have been used in other years, never bothered to check, just thought they were cool. Duane
My dads ‘75 LeSabre had the tri shield cast into them. As much as I had wheels on and off that car, it took me years to notice it
Wonder why Buick would do that? Maybe it was the foundry that cast them, but why? I’d think all B body drums would be the same except wagons
Every brand cast their own drums.back then. The Chevy rear drums had no fins, Buicks had fins and all the fins ended up into a solid lip like structure at the back Oldsmobiles had fins but were different and I don’t remember what the Pontiacs had? You have to remember that back then each “Make” built their own drive trains, and this included the rear axles and brake drums as well. Even in 1971, with the Corporate 8.5 BOP rear axles Buick was still making the rear drums. I always wondered if the 8.5 axles for the other brands used “Buick” drums or not. Duane
