Any methonal users out there? What equipment are you using? Draw backs?
    Thanks Rick

It's only been four hours on a pretty obscure subject, just give it some time...

I use methanol injection on my V6 turbo car for detonation control.

Not to many Buick V8's on that stuff as far as I know.

I've run methanol for a number of years . Mechanical injection , enderle
hat . It is more consistent, falls off less in the heat. It will milk the oil if you run it rich so be prepared to change your oil more often. You need to make sure your fuel system is methanol safe anodized or brass fittings.
Use some top lube, if the car will sit around for more than a few weeks I pull the lines and spray barrel valve etc with WD40. If you go mechanical do spend the time and money for flowed pills and nozzels much better tune up.
I like it , suits my application fine and at $165 a barrel it's cost effective

rick. we have used methanol for years. we use gerardot mechanical injection system. this system has been trouble free from day one. throttle response is awsome. nice thing about it is you can richen or lean your motor on the low end or top end by changing only 2 jets. go to www.gerardot performance.com. to see what is available

    Thanks Rick

rick. we are at 16.64 compression. we are using wiseco pistons with a .270 dome. alcohol motors like at least 12.1 to get max perf.

14.5 currently but we've been over 16:1 as well.

Hey Daves will the block take a 13:1 with out a girdle? This motor will not be pushed past 6000RPM.
    Thanks Rick

Rick, I have run the Ron's flying toilet in my RED 70' GS. I run about 13.2 with no block girdle only a half HardBlok filled block. I shift at 6400 and go thru the traps at about 6600. The car runs mid sometimes lows 9s at about 140 mph on methonal. I still need to install a high speed lean-out to maximize my combo. The methonal is good for about .05 in just the first 60'.

Mike what size of toilet are you using? What is your combo. What I am trying to do is push a 2750# car to a low 10 with out excessive rpm. I plan on using AMP's rod and piston combo that will give me around 12.8 with piston .010 in the hole and at this time using cast iron heads with mild porting then later moving up to alum stage 1 heads. The reason of the stage 1 heads is because of the header situation.
    Thanks Rick

Rick, I bought my Manley aluminum rods, JE pistons, 494 stroker crank setup from AM&P. I use TA stage 2 heads. I use a 4.1" Ron's Flying Toilet mounted on a TA SPX dominator intake. I had Steve Reynolds (SRE) fab me up a mount for the mechanical fuel pump and a mandrel for the balancer. I run a TA 308s cam kit with 3/8" pushrods and 1.65 rockers. The compression is 13.2:1. The only mod to the block is a 1/2 fill of HardBlok.

The car weighs 3050lbs ready to race but without me.

    Hope this helps
    Mike

Mike do you have some pics of the pump set up? Yes all this is helping.
    Thanks Rick

Here is a shot that shows the mount that Steve (SRE) made. It also doubles as a fuel pump blockoff plate for the front cover.

tom. we use either mobil 1 or valvoline synpower 20-50. both of these oils work great. we also add a bottle of lucas additive.

Mike I like the way you mounted the pump. Do you monitor exh temps on both back cylinders? What temp do you normally run at? How did you size the air door? Do you have a gas jet plate thingy to warm the motor up?
    Thanks for all your help
    Rick
