So what happened to the 10-second yellow Hemi Road Runner ? :Do No:

What was his fastest pass of the weekend ?

I'm curious what was found when he pulled a valve cover ?

Who was he paired up against in the finals ?

Did he make more laps in the pits making *VROOM* *VROOM* noises than he did on the actual track ? :puzzled:

Rumor has it, it only took him 10 minutes to come back to the track after a 30 mile cruise. WOW - that's FAST .... or ??????

Just a NERVOUS, SNEAKY, MAGNET TOTING Adult wondering how the tattle-tale, ranting, motor-revving toddler of the event did ........ :spank:  How many pee-pee stops were there on the way back to Michigan ? Oh, I could go on and on and on and on ........

So what happened to the 10-second yellow Hemi Road Runner ? Can you spell "DQ"? :spank:

What was his fastest pass of the weekend ? 11.70+

I'm curious what was found when he pulled a valve cover ? Nothing, as he refused to remove his valve cover. See Question 1 :error:

Who was he paired up against in the finals ? See Question 1 :Brow:

Dudek ran a 11.18 on Friday. Joel ran a 11.30 on Friday as well. Plus Greg's 11.17! They're getting there! :TU:

Hopefully we'll get some solid results by tomorrow. Racing results that is. No more episodes of How the F.A.S.T. World Turns. I talked to Joel this morning at about 10am and he was just leaving the Atlanta area. Steve Hodges was already between Chattanooga and Nashville.

EXCELLENT running by Greg, Dave and Joel !!! :TU:

So the RR got DQ'd 'eh ?? Sounds like what you are saying is that he didn't pull a valve cover ? :Do No: Maybe the brake booster was in the way .... you know ... that can be hard to do.

Me thinks if the SUPER MAGNET was present, your question would have been answered! Just wonder where that 10.87 came from as he was running 2-3 tenths SLOWER than he was at the Mopar Nationals in the high 11's?????? Too bad about the soap opera shenanigans going on in GA. I thought everybody was in this for fun. :Do No:

The yellow HEMI chased electrical and carb gremlins all weekend. Ended up being a distributor AND rear carb problem, thus the reason for the quick return from the 30 mile cruise to run TRUE STREET class. The thing was finally straightened out at midnight Sat night, but too late to make any hard runs in competition, though I saw it run an 11.12 and 11.30 with the above problems. Jack took me for a blast down the return road after it was fixed, say around midnight Sat nite(my first ever ride in a HEMI car). MAn that thing is fast, a ten second car NO DOUBT, and on skinny whitewalls to boot. I've been in ten sec cars before, and this is one of them, even with two people in the car, one of which was 260 lbs of me.
He removed the stickers from his car, but still was not allowed to participate in the class, but thats not my debate so I'll stay out of that. The Irons' pitted next to me, so I kind of hung around watching and lending a hand, tools, and parts where I could. They seemed like nice enough folks to me, and I have never cared what emblem is in the grill. I'm no HEMI guy, but I saw under the valve covers (both) and they looked iron enough to me, but, I know very little about HEMI's so you might want to check for yourself.

    Very impressive car, VERY IMPRESSIVE.

    Case,

The covers were off for a couple hours but no one came around. I've followed the goings on with this car and I aint touchin that debate, just passin on my experience from this weekend.

I will say the FAST class is the coolest class with a good bunch of guys and some awesome cars. I do feel too much attention is placed on the top 3 or 4 cars (not that they dont deserve it because they do), but the 13 second cars seem alienated IMHO. Or at least at this race. All of the cars were very nice and ran good.

Oh, the green GTX loaded up on the chassis dyno for 2 or 3 pulls, and it made 555 RWHP if I remember correctly, but it was a long day so chime in if I'm mistaken. Cool that Joel N. has the nads to let er rip on the dyno in front of all to see.

Lets see, 10 to 15 passes for the event, and then thrash the stew out of it on the chassis dyno in front of a large crowd after dark. Nice.

While I was "never in the running" this weeking in Commerce, I figured I'd at least be the first competitor to post...

You were pitted next to Irons? So was I! And so were a couple of guys in the car show area, the people down on the return road, the people across the pit road from us...

Quite the show in Commerce, and "no" I'm not talking about the hundreds of nice cars that showed up! I'm not gonna go through the entire chain of events, but it played out as everyone knew it would way back on Wednesday. And I must say, I don't see the problem. The decals were still there when Jack showed up (and were there the last I knew when I left Saturday afternoon) and he never pulled a valve cover FOR THE TECH GUYS...so he deserves to get bounced. If I'm not mistaken that valve cover rule goes back to the beginning of the class...heck, they told JJ right off the bat on Friday that if he ran the numbers on Friday that he'd have to pull a cover just like everyone else. And he just certified this engine 2 weeks ago in Stanton!

And the dramatics after they DQ'd the RR was a nice touch...the 7-grand drive-bys, the yelling and screaming, and the lawsuit threats to everyone within ear shot. While it was all good for a laugh, it was uncalled for. I'll probably get a nasty lawsuit threat via email now, but who cares...maybe I can clear up my trailer mess while I'm in court!

One thing is for sure, us guys in Pure Stock are in for a world of hurt when JJ gets the 'Vette dialed in! 11.8s@121+ in junk air, granny shifting because of an ailing trans? That car's just SILLY...

All in all a cool event, and "thanks" goes out to the FAST gang, Year One, American Muscle Car, and everyone else that had a hand in putting it all together. But man, the air down there sure did screw with my setup!

Yes, I was pitted next to the Irons, but I dont know about you because I dont know who you are. Sign your name next time Hillbilly. You obviously have your opinions about what happened and so do I. No need to go quoting me and rolling your eyes about what I said. Just state your opinion and leave me out of it. And BTW, I KNOW the decals were gone Sat AM because I watched them being removed from the car at about 9:00 AM.

Now I'm not taking sides here because I dont have a side to take. I'm just relating what I saw this weekend. The arguments amongst the competitors are none of my business. I had a great time, congrats to Greg again on another win, congrats to all of the competitors because they all have beautiful cars and are very good racers and showmen, and I had a very enjoyable time. This class is just awesome and what these guys are doing with their cars on the bias plys is really hard to understand.

Whoooaaa...back 'er down there, Jim. Those shots about the pit locations weren't directed at you, but were merely an attempt to make light of the "musical chairs" routine I watched on Saturday. If you felt that I was contradicting you or tryin' to drag you into it, I apologize, as those weren't my intentions...I, too, was merely trying to relate the good, the bad, and the ugly that was the Commerce Challenge...

As for who I am, I was the young guy with the yellow "Pure Stock" Camaro parked next to JJ's silver L88 Corvette...

    Rob,

Really enjoyed meeting you and the rest of the guys (especially Dave H, and JJ) over the weekend. Also thanks for encouraging me to work on my ride this weekend it really paid off! Hopefully we'll meet again in the spring in Atlanta.

    Hey Rob,

Absolutely no problem. And nice car by the way. I misunderstood where you were headed with your post, totally my bad.

I hope the bickering (or whatever it is) in this class doesnt slow things down. This is the coolest class with the best cars and driver/owners I have ever had the pleasure of following. I hope to have a car ready soon to join the fun.

It just brings a smile to my face everytime I think about Gessler winning.......again.

    In a freakin' Buick especially!

That car has been dismissed as a non contender as many times as he has won.....

And while others are debating the legality of Zl-1 vs Aluminum clip etc.....he quietly shaves a few tenths off.....under the radar.

    Congrats to Greg.
