So ive ALWAYS ran a straight thru perforated core muffler be cause in my mind ANYTHING in front of gas flow is an obstruction that slows it down,.. but I cant help but like the way chambered mufflers sound that being said have any of you guys done any back to back testing between the two designs on a 600hp.combo. My new setup consist of 2.125 headers Cone Engineering merge collectors 9 taper spike, 3in choke and 3.5in pipe to bumper with Vbands at the collectors and for and aft of the mufflers for service convenience. Do Flowmaters on a high volume system such as a 3.5 really affect power? Spintech? Moroso Spiral Flow?Just looking for a different sound
Without sacrificing power, ive owned more sets of Dynomax and Magnaflow than I can remember

I have no idea how Flowmasters do on high HP combo's, but I can't remember the last time I saw Flowmasters even report better numbers than stock. All the reports I have seen show lower HP numbers than the competition and stock configurations. They do sound good on old muscle, but wouldn't be my choice for performance. Maybe someone else has something better to report.

We had Flowmaster 3.5" on our car when we put it together. Race muffler with an x pipe. It was noisy but sounded good. Then we switched to ultra flo dynomax race muffler and what a difference. Car ran out better and sounded a lot better too. Don't have any hard numbers but I can guarantee the car made more power.

What part number or pipe diameter were the ultra flow Walkers?

3.5" bullet (straight) style. Don't remember the part #. Still through a x pipe. Car got quieter but in a good way. No more drone.

Im pretty sure im gonna go with traditional duals to get a more aggressive sound ,always had a X but Ive always thought straight duals are little nastier sounding

Wait, so you went from Dynomax Ultraflow to a Bullet and it got quieter and no more drone?? What length Bullet did you use?

When I said bullet I just meant straight through bullet shape. They are Dynomax ultra flo. Had Flowmasters before that.

I gotcha. Dynomax also has a muffler they call the Race Bullet. I have Ultra Flo on my Silverado but it is an oval case and I get drone sometimes when pulling a trailer but still enjoy it.

I never thought mjuch of flowmaster. still dont, redirecting flow around corners will never increase power.

I take it this muffler would be too loud on the street ? Seems like it would have excellent flow. Just curious cause I'm currently looking for a good flowing set of mufflers.

I highly doubt it. Race Bullet is pretty questionable, cause they only claim a 4dB reduction in sound over open exhaust. The Ultra Flo should be even quieter than that. My brother runs the Race Bullets on my old '97 Silverado I handed down to him and it's not real loud, but it also has cats. I think you would be safe with the Ultra Flo. I am actually pretty interested in them myself now.

Todd, do you by chance have any video of your car running with the Ultra Flo's? Would love to hear how it sounds. Not a very good selection on YouTube that I could find. Mostly late model stuff and most of them had the oval case, which is even quieter than what I would expect yours to be.

So I'm wanting to know if I use these mufflers on a car making 560 hp, are they going to make my neighbors angry with me ? Will they make driving difficult cause of the noise ? Thx John.

The x pipe quiets it down a bit but it's still plenty loud when you stand in it. Personally I like the look on people's faces when they hear it..but I get what you're saying. They are quieter than flows for sure.

Would like to research these more but finding them on Jegs, summit, etc seems to be difficult. I'm not the best at searching anyway. Would anyone know of a part number ? Would be a big help. Thx, John.

What do you consider a race muffler im sure a dynomax super turbo or walker long case will flow enough for 10.60. I have seen a few cars run that with them. Cant go wrong with a bullet but depending how much u drive u may get tired of them fast. I love it on my race car but not so much if I drove it alot.
