And here is another but without it or the hardware mounted.... It's almost impossible to get repeatable results from test-to-test when using clay!:Smarty:
Wow, great info on here. I guess 38 is the age when you have time and $ for Buicks. Goodluck Kerry on your recovery.
Thank you for all the great info. You guys are an inspiration to make big heavy buicks deceptively light and surprisingly fast!
That's what I'm ALL about! If my wife ever sends me to a doctor for my Buick habit I'll most certainly be diagnosed with OCD.
Kerry those are some awsome flow numbers and even awsomer if that's a word. p plexi glass home made flow plate. I have been looking for some 3/4 plexi glass ever since I show those pics. Where did you get plexi glass that thick from.
Hi Terrance, I bought it from a local glass store that also sells plexiglass sheet too in all different thicknesses. Let me know if you can not find any...I could pick you up a piece.:TU:
Thanks Kerry, I have been looking in Home depot and Lowes. Will give my local glass shop a try first. If I cant find any just let me know how much I owe you. and I'll put it in the mail. Can you explain how you traced it out to perfectly match the opening. also did you do one for the exhaust side. Awsome job on it by the way. :TU:
information Wow what a great bunch of guys. I have been a hot rodder all my life, many more years than you two 38 year olds and have never been with a group that is so open and willing to share info. I used to be onr of the closed mouth guys, but since joing this group I am wiling to share more info. I am really looking forward to meeting you at some of the events, My car will be ready in January so then I'll be on the road seeing and meeting. Thanks for being such a helpful and friendly group. Hi Guys, Terrance....I made a "low-tech" template out of a cereal box (I believe it was a Wheaties box:grin: ) and a TA's composite intake gasket to get all of my dimensions. Seeing as how the TA heads come with CNC machined intake entrances they perfectly match. I could also send that along but I would want it back. I'll get a pic posted later tonight for you of what I mean.:TU: As far as the exhaust side...I purchased a pair of each Stage1/standard & Stage 2 exhaust flanges off of a guy on E-bay then went to a local muffler shop and had them order the correct size pipe (in my case that is 2 1/8" OD). Cut (8) 4" sections then welded them to the flanges. This gives me my "standard" 4" long flowbench test pipe by just bolting it directly to the heads. From experience.....holding a pipe while flowing gets pretty darn HOT to the hand as well as your hand tends to "float around" and can affect your numbers too. Mike....my thoughts are to share to help others and others tends to share back when you come upon a problem. Trial-n-error works but can take awhile.
No luck at the first shop. But they told me where to get it . The question is will they sell me such a small piece.
Terrance, If you are running out of options let me know, I've got a 1/2" thick section I could send you if you think it would work. It has a frosted look to it (both sides) but is mechanically sound.
Head porter? Please bring my car around... I couldn't resist! I'll do anything for a cheap joke... just ask my friends! Now I think I'll go get another :beer :TU:  Frank
