Found a vendor in Austin, Texas, He has one available. Date code 0690. Pics coming soon. I spoke with him on another issue & asked about the 7040245.
Pics. Vendor believes it was rebuilt at one time but suggests another one. He's asking $250 but you may be able to negotiate. Let me know if interested & I'll connect you with the vendor. He seems to have quite a few other Buick carbs. available.
Hi Steve, Thanks for looking out! I have seen this one and something doesnt seem right on the rod and the price is a killer for needing a rebuilt. PM me his info though please. Thanks again!
PM sent. Price sounds high but it would pay to call & talk to him. Others have mentioned it's an extremely rare piece. Found it on E-Bay. First trip to Fall Carlisle for me was in '05. Drove down with some friends 16 hours each way. Brought back a Q-jet core for my '71. About the only part I was looking for. I paid $10 for the carb. & $1000.00 to get there & back!
ahh but you have the fond memories...yea he wanted 250 for it...seems high and to me not worth it that carb has the wrong rod on it as well I think...I will contact him and try to haggle or could look for a 7040244 that would be close enough or keep on looking someone must have one!!
oK that guy might have the one and only 7040245 in the world...still searching for a decent priced carb!
Gary, I would like to let you know that I have a 7044244 carb "For Sale" in the parts section for $25.00 Yes, I understand that its 4 years off. Just wondering if you are interested?
Thanks for the info/offer and wish it was the one I want. I have a 7040244 on it right now. That's about as correct as it can be besides the 7040245.
Gary I know about the just because part:laugh: I converted my 72 to a stick & just would like to know
