just snoopin around in here - kinda likin pic#2 , the "black" one . that might look good on some dif carbs .
    yeah , that red's pretty red .
i've always liked the red backround you use but the black looks really good , makes carbs stand out nice and kind of more subdued looking , highlites the carbs better i think .

I get what youre saying Del about the backgrounds. Each carb looks best with a different background.

What also is a bit annoying to me is the fact that lighting (bright/dim/flourescent/daylight/incand...etc) plays a real important part in how the carb looks online. I dont like playing with it - I am a Qjet guy after all, not a Photog....

Its hard to get an appreciation for just how good some of these carbs look unless you see them in person....says the guy making them....lol

I'm thinkin that black on one of my holley's would look a lot like the quick fuel black diamond series - except not ALL black - polish the blocks and base . might look nice .
just set up a little corner space for pics - left and right overhead light at about 45 degree's and then use the flash on camera to fill in to try and eliminate shadows . yeah the light will effect the pic , and the backround color also - the carb color will "pick up" the backround color . warm colors (red etc) are more aggressive and come forward and cooler colors are on the other end - have a tendency to fade away a little . that's why I think if you support the carb up off backround it seems to float sorta with some colors . I use red usually but thats mainly because it pops out on e-bay ad's etc . but either way - a long way from the plywood days .

I am excited to see how the black and silver looks in person when i get home this weekend!

Now I have to buy some valve covers and a new aircleaner as I am not putting a shiny new carb on a grimey engine
