For a few years I've been thinking about how to add gauges to the Cat. Never wanted something under the dash. I'm pretty happy with a solution I MacGuyverd up using an Autometer 3 3/8 Quad Gauge. My console doesn't have a Tach and honestly I'm not driving an 18ft convertible like a racecar. I found a way to get the gauge in place without having to modify the opening. Someone could remove it and put a Tach in or the Wildcat emblem. I'm not using the fuel gauge but I will now have oil, temp and volts. I think it looks pretty good. It sits deep but 99 percent of people won't notice.
Looks real good in there, nice job! Might be a little hard to read at a glance but still better than having only idiot lights.
Thats cool. I put a set of mini gauges in the 66's ashtray but really dont like em. hard to see during the day and impossible an night. I have a tach in the console which I really dont need but its cool. Your solution might work for me. I assume the gauge is electric reading.
Briz -- yes the gauge/senders are all-electric. One thing I appreciated is that Autometer includes the senders in the package with the right fittings/ adapters to install the senders in my 430. I just purchased a steel street elbow so I could have both the idiot light and gauge for the oil sending unit. I removed the thermal/vacuum sensor (the one that advances idle timing - I'm not using it) from the intake and installed the temp sensor there. The gauge is lighted -- two 194 bulbs
