I have a 65 riv with a 401.The car came with a edelbrock 1406 carb.It has a fitting on the front for pvc hose.I cant get it to work right so I found a carter 4053s carb. There is no fitting for the pvc hose on it,so where do I put it.Or do I not need the pvc at all.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Yes, you need a PCV on your engine. It keeps the crankcase from building up pressure and making your engine leak. You can use a carburetor spacer and drill it to accept a 3/8" hose nipple. Then run the hose to the PCV, or you can run the hose off any full vacuum tap on the intake manifold.
