Want to be sure I order the right replacements. Getting some rot removed from Big Cat's trunk. The worst spot is right around the left/right rear body mounts -- right behind the rear wheels (no doubt salt used to get tossed right there). These won't likely survive the removal process. Is this the right replacement? http://www.oldbuickparts.com/cart/body-mount-1967-74-buick-12-od-p-4469.html Thanks!!
I'm having someone one locally replicate the damaged pocket and the area right around it. Unfortunately, no one makes a repair panel-- at least that I'm aware of. It would be faster of I could use something that was pre-made. The Chevy Impala, the closest B body with panels available, doesn't seem very close when it comes to trunk pan.
Im not sure if these are the mounts you are talking about, but the rear mounts at the truck where finished on my 70 Electra. I had to purchase the mounting plate for a full size 1970 Chev and cut them down a little bit and some fab work, but it worked well. The trunk mounts were for 70 chev impala and had to be slightly modified.
Nice solution. I was lucky enough to have a great guy local to me here in Mass that made them. I had more damage than you in that same area of the floor
The "exact replacement" set for my '67 Riv were…um….not exact. It appeared to be a mix of A and B-body pieces. I marked the ones that need to be cut down with a large tubing cutter and then cut them with a fine-toothed hacksaw blade. Came out pretty good.
I was able to get the mounts from energy suspension, I cant remember which 1970 buick they where for, but the fit was close to the original. In the pictures you can see the old mounts compared to the new ones.
