    The engine i bought and am going to be running has a solid roller cam with lifters of unknown origin. There are no marks or ID of any kind on them. Block is zero decked and heads have been milled, yet the builder set the engine up with 9.550 long trend pushrods and the lifter cups are significantly below the top of the lifter.

    Could these be Chevy roller lifters? i know the GM lifters are all .842 dia so they would fit and this engine has been run for a while so whatever is in there is working. Is it possible to do this and if so, why would you do it? Is there any advantage? Thanks

    Won't work here's why, in the BBC block the intake and exhaust lifters aren't side by side like a BBB, they're in 2 different lines offset from one another with the BBC needing 2 different length pushrods for the intake and exhaust. Plus the bore spacing is 4.840" while the BBB's is 4.750" which could be made to work but, the BBC lifters would need to be inline to alter them to work and the sbc lifter's link bar is to short so would be the Pontiac and Oldsmobile roller lifters, but Cadillac roller lifters might be alterable to make them work if those are inline which IIRC they are.

    Here is a picture of a BBC roller lifter assembly;

    Notice the offset I spoke about in the picture from the link.

    I hope this helped, GL.

    It did, thank you. Valve train geometry looks good, wonder why the push rods are so long?
