If it is just a street car,it will be fine. If it’s something with a bunch of power for street/strip,you’re pushing it.

i INSTALL Auburns all the time and my customers do not have issues. AGAIN I have to say there is usually more to the story when units fail prematurely. Most do not tell the whole story or parts they think are important.
I would install more IF they gave me better deals...lol. Unfortunately it is a Money gig when it is your job. I always say you usually can not go wrong with new...Most companies give manufacture warranties at least for one year.
How long have you had your Auburn in the car?

Just have to remember stay out of situations at the track where one wheel gets more water than the other deal. Or only one wheel gets water and the other is dry. That will burn up a unit fast as one wheel will spin and the other will be stuck to the ground. BAD NEWS there. Street yoiu really should not have any issues unless you are 10 min burn out KING that sits in one spot. :D Just gunning the gas and doing burn outs SHOULD never do the posi any harm. Obviously everything wears out aFTER A WHILE...bUT FOR POSI UNITS IT IS EVERY left and right hand turn that does the wearing.

I went thru my 8.5 auburn posi with Buickrat at the helm, changing gears to 3:42 then took it easy on it for 600 miles ,give or take, before taking car to track. Jim

Your 90’s Caprice police cars and Impala SS came with a 30-spline Auburn unit. Definitely fine for a street car. The one you have obviously doesn’t have the miles on it like a used one in a police car. You will be fine.
