Very cool. Did you have to anneal the copper gaskets before reuse as is done w/copper & o-rings?

Yes I did and my wife didn't appreciate having car parts in her oven or the smell.

Thanks Ray I plan on getting the block back and disassembling it to take it to another machine shop to get it 0 decked. I know it sounds stupid, but I know thats what I want done and I don't want to lose my parts by pissing this guy off.

Ok guys I feel better now, I talked to him and he did not get mad. He is removing the cam bearings and freeze plugs and installing crank and 4 corner pistons. I told him I would like to get my pistons .05 in the hole.So we are decking the block, thank God. I really hate to shave the intake side of my heads cause I plan on selling them when I purchase the new alluminum ones from Gessler. Question is, can I take what I need to take out of the intake including the intake rails to get proper fit ? We are making progress here now. Also I have gotten my new 210 SHL from a board member on here and looks perfect. Heres a list of what I have in the build, looking to get a est. of what HP and Torque I should be at ?
TA forged srp spherical dish pistons .05 in the hole
    TA sportsman rods
Gessler stage 1 level 2 iron heads
    TA 210 solid HL
    TA 1125 dual springs
    TA 1450 retainers
    TA SP1 intake
    1000HP AED carb
    TA 1.65 roller rockers
    TA dual groove cam bearings
stock crank polished chamfered fully ballanced and blueprinted rotating assy.

I was also wondering if I am going to have to send my 1.65 rockers back to TA to get them cut on for clearance issues? Thanks again Mike

Why do you want so much deck height? I thought you gere going for a zero deck? It may already be 0.050" as it sits.

I would guess 480-500. 570+hp with the alums.
If you have stg1 73 heads w/bowl work and short side done properly figure on 240/250cfm int. flow. The ports are real small and stall at .400". I recently had this done from AM&P on a port.
    244cfm .400"
    247cfm .450"
    244cfm .500"
I'm in the process of laying back the SSR and opening up the ports restrictions.
If you are going to take approx .040" off the block put the heads on w/out the .040" head gaskets and see how the intake lines up with the ports and rail clearance.

Yeah man I told him over the phone and he was cool and things are turning out better than exxpected. The reason he didn't deck the block is because I told him to forget it and put it back with old pistons. I showed up and he went ahead and bored the block anyway. I have made a ton of mistakes on this build due to lack of knowledge, just don't want any more major suprises if you know what I mean.

Thanks Ray I will take the intake to him and see what our best route will be. Man I wish I had 3 grand laying around for the Gessler level 3 heads right now, thats a big difference. I have wasted prob that on the mistakes on this project alone. You guys are great though, I hope this will help someone else "not" make the same mistakes

You don't have a clue what this guy is capable of, I am scared to death of him, and loosing my stuff. I didn't find out all this stuff tell after the fact. I have made the best of the situation and the engine will be kickin some serious tale this spring. Yes it did cost me more and I wont make that mistake again.

If you read these real world posts very carefully you will get a better understanding of whats going on with the 73 heads. Porting info #4 Dawildlcat's links very informative, and this one Charlie Evons Port Info.

Heres an update guys, Just called the so called machinest and asked him if he got my message about me bringing the intake so he would be able to see how much he needed to cut the block rails. He told me we wouldn't need to because we didn't change anything. So he totaly forgot I told him to zero the deck. I told him not to wast his breath keep the money and I am going this afternoon to get my block and parts. Sorry it took me so long, but $1900.00 is hard to come by if you know what I mean. I think all I have to get done is deck the block and ballance the rotating assy. I would be willing to ship the rotating assy. to someone to get it ballanced if someone knew about how much it costs. Thanks again guys I will be glad to be done with this a__hole.

I have all my stuff back in my livingroom. I am going to put crank and 4 corner pistons in to check the deck height. Man what a looser, he was stoned out of his mind when I picked it up. Good thing I took a list of parts with me or I would have forgot half of the stuff. I paid this dude $1900.00 for boring a block, instaling my $95.00 cam bearings that have to be removed to deck the block. He took apart my perfect gessler heads, O I forgot he did champher and I guess polish the crank, what a bargan.
