    It might seem like unnecessary extra work now, but teaching yourself how to set idle mixture and read a vacuum gauge will save you lots of headache down the road. A timing light will also be a lifesaver.

    Not much accurate tuning can be done without them. The process of changing jets is also important.

    I know i just have never done anything with carburetors other then changing the fuel filter on a quadrajet or the air filter but ive had a few previous cars with carbs. I plan on getting this car all taken care of over the winter for body work and paint so i need to get it good for future use.
