I'm over the brake squeal on my '69 Skylark. MBN disc conversion. I've used the anti squeal goo on the pads, chamfered the edges of the pads, and swaped the pads side to side. Still there.
So, I'm going to replace the pads. Any recommendations for pad choice? It's a cruiser, not a racer.

Try organic or ceramic, not semi metallic.

No matter the pad - you need to bed them correctly. I used to always have squealing on my minivan until I realized what was causing it. You should break the glaze on the disc - I simply use sandpaper on a wood block (2X4 works well) and spin the disc while holding the block to the friction area. You could pull the disc and have it surfaced, but that's usually not necessary. Now bed the pads correctly: https://brakeperformance.com/bedding-in-rotors.php
or https://www.wagnerbrake.com/technical/technical-tips/break-in.html or any other good website...

Personally I never ever just slap a set of pads in. I always replace the rotors or turn them. If you don't the new pads will glaze up and be 1/2 worthless.

Make sure you have the anti rattle clip on the inner pad, and you clinch the outer pads to the caliper. Caliper grease on the O rings/bushings. I like the spray on coatings for the backs of the pads.

Do the pads you are using have the insulator (soft metal) backing plate on them?

That's exactly what I was going to suggest. Crimping the outer pad is crucial to keeping them quiet.

I'm sure impressed with ceramic pads now being made; much less noticeable brake dust for cleaner looking wheels. Give the ceramics a try and I think you will like the performance and wear characteristics good for all around use on our cars.

I have been very impressed with the Raybestos Element 3 EHT pads. They are a ceramic/semi-metallic hybrid. I put a set on my Sienna and they were great and just put a set on the 225.

I'm sorry, but the title of this of this thread asks, implies so much more. I've looked at it for days, listened, and learned from people with way more experience than me. But the title of this thread asks, "Pad choices."
#1. Stayfree Maxi Pads for Women." Interesting... So they have men's Maxi Pads? I'm just asking.
#2. ALWAYS ultra thin size. I'm thinking......... Do I want a Maxi Pad, or an Ultra thin girl? Choices???

I'm using Hawk Performance Ceramics (Yellow) with a linear friction material on my (Corvette Z51 adapted) GS for nice street braking. These pads are ultra low dust and low noise and the big Kore 3 Corvette disc brake conversion gives me way better stops. If you dont mind dust Hawk 5.0's are good.

BTW, All street brakes are mandated to have 2 letter coefficient of friction (CF) codes printed on the back of the pads, such EE, FF, GG, HH etc. I would look for FF pads as a minimum for a performance pad. First letter designates CF at 250 degrees and second letter designates CF at 600.

Once again, V8Buick saves my ***. Deglazed the pads & discs, lubed the caliper pins. Job done.
A 60 Km round trip today, no squeal and I've got a better brake pedal. I suspect there was a bind on the caliper pins.

    Thank you once again!
