Just wanted to say thank you for the prayers. Steven is doing well and thanks everyone for their support. He writes to us from church on Sundays. He has already been there for over a month and has been asked about leading his platoon. I know he can do it but that is up to him and God , and what a great amount of growth we have seen in that relationship. Prayers are answered..... and I will continue to pray for strength, encouragement, and the growth of his new relationship with the Lord.

Thank you all who have served and still serve our country today.

I'll update when I can later this week.

I'm still one Very proud dad.:TU:

Thank You for the update. Your son knows who to form good relationships with! And, with that, he will always be successful and looked to for guidance by others. I know you are very proud of him. The pride also turns to you, as parents, for all you have done to help mold him into the good man he is today. Kudos!

Hey John and Jenn... Awesome!!! First, let me say it has been "our" pleasure knowing you, Jenn, and the kids. I still remember my son, Alex, and I bringing the little Honda 80 to BG, and driving your little kids all over the race track. Wow!!! They grew up fast. Boy do Deb and I know how you feel. Scott got deployed over "there" in June to protect the perimeter of a secret base. (I'd say where, but then it would not be a secret base even though it is on Wikipedia") Watching him leave from the Ft. Lauderale airport was heart wrenching. (Total side note. Watching Moms and Dads leaving was really hard.) Boy do they grow! We know the feeling of no communication. Luckily I-phones and texting work great. He's on 4 days and off 4. First he went to Camp Bliss in Texas. I'm only guessing it was to get them use to the heat of the desert. It was still winter! When he got to Ft. Bliss it was in the 40's in the morning, when he got "there" it was 110 degrees!!! Scott said, "I could have stayed in South Florida to get ready for this deployment!" He's doing well and so will your awesome son. Your family is always in our prayers!!!

PS... Like Breeze said, "You moved again?" I never got see to your Florida place! Sorry you moved 'cause we are still going to move closer to where you were. Are you going to BG in Sept.? Alex and I will be there. If Jenn goes Deb will go to.
    Love you guys!!!
    John, Deb, Alex, and Scott

Well as busy as we all have been
this summer ....... it has gone by quickly.
A quick update on Steven , he has done better than he thought he would at Parris island. We knew he would do well but what do we know we're just parents.:Dou:
He starts the Crucible in just over 24 hours from now. Saturday he will become a United States Marine. Next Thursday is family day and Friday he graduates from the island as PFC Everett.
The next 4 days will push him almost to the limit. He could use your continued thoughts and prayers. He had mentioned that knowing people were praying and thinking of him, helped to push him through the hard times..
I fly down this week to drive him and Jenn back up to Maine for a week or so while he is on leave. After a summer of living by myself far from family it will be great to have the family together although brief we will be together.
After we put Steven on the plane back to his career Jenn will be staying here in Maine.
Our other son Sean is going to school in Massachusetts soon.
I guess this is the start of being an empty nesters.
Thanks again for the prayers and support.

    That is great news !

Congratulations to your son ! And also to you and your family for your support !

My brother served in the late 60's to 70. I was maybe 9 yrs old when we went to Paris Island for his graduation. That was an event I will never forget. I am thinking about the memories of that weekend now. We are proud to have him in our family, and that he got the privilege to serve his country.

Again, Congratulations Stephen ! Thank you for your commitment and your service to your country.

Well just about a year now. He is doing well, he should be a CPL by the end of summer. He is taking as much extra training and classes that he can. He is out at Camp Pendleton in Cali..
Thanks for the prayers for Steven and the family.
His 5 minute older brother Sean just got his final clearance to join the Army, also in aviation.
He picks his job tomorrow morning.
Sworn in next week and off to Basic.

Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers, as it's nice to know what they're doing is supported.

First time seeing this thread. Great young men are still out there apparently. Sometimes you want to lose hope but stories like this reaffirm your faith. Congrats to your boys and your family on their achievements thus far.

Just saw this thread I echo the thoughts that you and your wife should be basking in pride to have two sons so mature coming out of high school and having a plan for their lives at a young age. It is becoming more rare these days to have dedicated young people thinking about life and making a plan.

All the best to you and the family:)

Well the Lord let us know he has better plans for our son.
Today we found out Sean has a red/green issue. Not major but enough to limit a few of his choices.. He did pick a secondary path of HR specialist.
He's a computer person and does data work for my Dads company, so it's a good fit.
He will be sworn in next week on the Army's Birthday. Ships out next month.
Only the Lord knows what is next. We wait patiently for the next step forward.
Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers.

Congratulations to your son and I thank him and you for his service to our country.

I understand the anxiety you are experiencing when the our children leave home to begin their lives. They are making life changing decisions and we have to just watch, encourage, pray and hope.

God bless him and keep him. I pray God's hedge of protection around him and that he will do what is right in God's eyes and find favor.
