Hello, I’m looking for feedback on if people have a preference on reproduction vs. restored original stainless windshield trim as far as fitment issues and installation hassles.

    Thanks

I've always had the best result using restored/polished originals. Particularly with the drip rail mouldings. Some of the repro stuff
seems to be a tad thinner. It also depends on budget concerns as well.Straightening and polishing is an art/you get what you pay for.

Thanks for the feedback I have already purchased the new stainless for the window trim but I have a couple of sets of originals that would clean up nice and sell the new ones. The drip rails I’m not so sure. Once the aluminum has been anodized is it possible to re-anodize?

Many years ago when he owned a '72 GS, he had the car stripped & repainted stratomist blue. The orig drip rails replaced with aftermarket
pieces. Apparently they were a bitch to install but the job was done.

The original trim is always the way to go if possible, I have yet to see a piece of aftermarket trim fit and function as well as an original. As far as re-anodizing goes, yes, it can be done, although I went a different route. I sent my original drip rail moldings to Adam (Smartin) and had him remove the anodizing and polish them and then didn't re-anodize them. They look fantastic and only require an occasional swipe of Mothers aluminum polish to keep them looking like chrome.
