I was wondering if there's still any interest in people wanting to buy Original stage 2 heads? Also, who is the authority or go-to guy for information on these rare heads? Thanks In advance for any info.

I’m sure this was discussed in the past here on the board. I have a set of iron stage twos that would’ve been released by Buick in 1972 I do believe they originally listed at $215 a piece bear. DEED44EC-E97F-4EA3-A707-A5587443E687.jpeg

They were the hot ticket to go fast in the mid to late 80s with a Buick 455 before TA started reproducing them.

Buick made very few sets of S2 heads, something like <75, and probably 10/30% are still out there. But that's just a guess...

There was a guy in CA awhile ago that was asking $25K for a set. Not sure if they were sold or not.

Price seems high were they NOS still in boxes ? What about the Kustom headers were they available with the heads ?

I sold a set in the 90s for $2500, about 8 years ago another set for $6500. The last set I have I've been offered $9000. I also still have a set of custom headers. The iron stage 2s and headers were on Thumper for years.

People interested in the Stage 2 part (in my opinion) are not using them
for racing . I think it would be more for show or just " I have a set of
STAGE 2 Iron heads " The heads would be more like double Gary's
last offer and the B4B intake , holley 4187 , pistons ,headers and cam ???????????????????

They may run iron stage 2s on a street car, but the aluminum stage two are the way to go for racing.

Picked my set up back in 86 when there was no options for aluminum heads.

Its really amazing how well the iron stage2s ran. I ran Thumper in the early 80's with irons and ran consistent 10.4s. All old school. 464 ci, KB mark IV hyd cam, 12 to 1 compression, B4B, TQ1000, 69 rocker arms, 4.30 gears and 4000 converter, no girdle, al. rods, lightweight Venolia pistons. Ran a best in good air at Norwalk of 10.28. Here we are today, with all good parts and technology and thousands of dollars and we've picked up 1 second?

When I bought my stage 1 in 83 it was running the original window rattler KB 70S1 Motor ended up with a rod knock. Motor ate the front Cam bearing With the Kenne Bell double gear oil pump. Rebuilt the motor in 85 using the later version 473 lift C107 was just a kid installed it straight up never degreed. Car went a consistent 1260s at 106 mph shifting at six grand if I shifted it to 5800 it probably would’ve been quicker. I started having valve train issues so I installed the iron stage 2 heads no other changes it ran 11:84 at 111.50 mph. End of valve training problems. I think it would be great on a 350, bet it wouldn't have a problem like the Q-Jet with the SP3 intake.

What kind of problems are you having with the Q jet an the SP3 intake ? Lean ?

I don't, I use a 750 dbl pump Holley but there was a couple people here that had problems with bogging off line and just could not get the carb to work well with the SP3.
