I'm trying to locate an original or NOS Delco factory coil for my 1970 455 motor with stock (or Lectric Limited) ignition using the original resistive ignition coil wire. I've been offered this one. Is it right for my motor?

If not, what's the correct part number and markings on an original coil? Do these look correct?

Otherwise known as a "247" coil. The number stamped in the case is the last three of the part number

Hey Jason, I'm looking to possible get a new coil for my 70GS455, is 1115202 or 1115247 the correct part number needed? I see some posts where 247 is correct, then I saw another where you bought a 202 a while back.

My application is a 70 GS 455 with lectra limited conversion distributor from Todd. I am currently using the factory resistor one wire setup. Thinking my coil is crapping out when it gets hot. Will test tomorrow, but looking for a possible replacement tonight.

I saw this from NPD and wasn't sure. https://www.npdlink.com/product/ign...te-electronic-done-to-eliminate-points/112261

    Thanks,

    Nick,
Follow the instructions for coil selection. Do you have a multimeter?

Yeah, I have a meter. I can check in the morning. Need to figure out where I can ohm out the other end of the pink wire. Easy to connect to on coil, other end not so much. Didn't want to tear into brand new wiring.

Right now the coil I have is from xxxx and it actually shows a number on it. Spectra C-624. My assumption is that its the standard one from the "place"

I was looking thru your thread on modifying as well. I turned the key on (didn't crank) and showed 9V on positive coil to ground.

I bought an line spark tester as well (from the vapor lock thread) that

Those tests are only valid with points. It is meaningless with the Lectric Ltd conversion. The new harness should have a resistance wire inline to the coil +. In stock wiring, the resistance wire runs from the firewall to a point where the "R" wire from the starter solenoid joins it, and then on to the coil +. If you bought the new harness and it was marketed as stock, the resistance wire should be there. I would Ohm out the coil primary and make sure it is suitable for the Breakerless SE.
