Guy down the street was working on his Harley and stripped a plug out. He's one of these guys who never worked on anything till he was 60 yrs old. He said the box said 2/3 turn BUT he had already installed and removed. Initially yes with un-crushed gasket but if you try 2/3 2nd time after gasket is flat not good. He said he had a hard time getting the 2/3 then the plug came out with the head threads attached!
He called the other day and said he tried to take the dipstick out (apparently to check the oil!) and put back in WITH THE MOTOR RUNNING on his Honda 1000 bike. He said the motor bit the dipstick off and made a noise and he shut it off and is afraid to start it again.......

I'd like to help the guy but may be lost cause....

I agree with your view of teaching younger people the correct way. These younger people that are eager to learn ANY trade ( and there seems to be very few) will take info as gospel from an “instructor”
When the instructor outright misinforms his students because that’s how he always did it, should be corrected or let go.
When I had a prepper for me in the paint Dept. I would check their work, but let them do it “ their way” BUT would correct them if I saw something I knew would cause an issue.
Everyone has their own style, as long as the end result is the same:D

It’s a bit damp, but that would not in itself cause any issues.
    It’s fine, ignore it

X2. I thought it might be wet and dripping. That's OK.

Starting with the 2 screws by the primary venturis, tighten all 9 airhorn screws, ending up with those same 2. Clean the fuel residue and see what happens.
