For racing purposes, what oil are you running?

Mike...I use conventional Valvoline VR1 10W-30 racing oil ("high" zinc). Blend in some quarts of 20W-50 for summer...depending on your clearances.

    I've been using Redline 30w.

On my old 750HP 505 I made a run with 20-50 Pennzoil then changed at the track to straight 30 Redline. The et was .08 quicker and 1 mph faster on the next run.

Interesting...it seems that heavier is not the way to go. It is a fresh build, so clearances are on the tighter side. Thanks for the responses

My race engines have always been "loose" on clearance and have been fine with the thinner synthetic.

I say run thin as you can and still have 80-85 psi thru the traps at 6000-6500. Some say don't need that much psi but I'd rather have a little extra.....and go a little slower....
