Our mini dachshund, Chloe Ann, at the very long lived age of 18.5 had to be sent over the bridge. Back legs had been getting bad and finally were completely gone and then she stopped eating past 3 days. Took this photo last month. First time in my entire life I am without a dog
Sorry to hear. I am sure she will be missed. As pet owners we know that our time with them is short, but it is always hard to lose them.
So very sorry for your loss. They are such a big part of our families & give us unconditional love throughout their lives. God Bless Bill https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...ar-transport-hauling-open-or-enclosed.614419/
Sorry, Zach. I know how hard it is, but you did the right thing. We owe it to them to not let them suffer.
I had to do the same with our cat , Bandit. Last month, the hardest thing I have ever done. Our 11 yr old Mini Doxi is fat and happy as ever. Right now he is fast asleep guarding the house. Fur kids are just like real kids. They become so much a part of your life. It is hard to say good bye. Tim
So sorry.. I'm sure you gave Chloe Ann 18.5 years of pure love that she gave back 10 fold Like having a child and seeing her graduate High School and more in all that time. Hang in there Zach..
Really sorry to hear this Zach, I've been where your at a few times.. I have had a dog continually my entire life. Can't imagine living without one. For many years, we have had more than one. The pain is tough, but there is a cure.. Nothing like puppy kisses to heal the soul.. JW
I'm sorry Zach. I feel you. Man's best friend is just that. No matter how you screwed up in life, or how bad of a day you had, their love is 100% unconditional. Then, like everyone else, they must leave. JW has a point, a new puppy does soothe the soul. We got two after losing our last dog.
Sorry to hear this. Been struggling with the same decision with Charlie, my 17 year old Rat Terrier. He doesn't see or hear well at all anymore. His back is curled up like a cartoon cat that got the hell scared out of it and you can tell by how he walks that his back legs bother him a lot. His balance isn't great, as he is prone to falling over at times when he leans too far forward to eat. He also recently seems to wander around the house as if he is lost at times. He is still eating very well, and has a good day here or there that he gets around better than normal. I don't want to shorten his life before it's his time but I also don't want him to be miserable until he does pass.
Sorry for your loss, my stomach gets all wadded up when I hear of someone having to put their pet down As long as she was loved That’s what helps me thru the tough time.
Im sorry for your loss Zach. I just lost Marley in Feb of 2022 and he was with me 15.5 years! Its hard! God bless
Sorry to hear... We have one joining that journey soon. Tough, but there's also another pup out there in need of companionship.... though the memory never fades. -MIG
I try to focus on giving a new dog that needs one a loving home, and simply remember all the great times had with the one that was lost. Helps to throw a positive light on what is a horrible time, for any pet owner. The Picture is Ferdinand, he as about 3 1/2 months old in that picture.. He was a rescue pup.... He's a Bullador.. half Lab, half American Bulldog. Wonderful temperament, the first big dog I have had that is not barking at new people because he is scared. When he was little, he would be so excited to meet a new person, he would pee on their leg.. he did not have great control back then.. Smart dog, took him one day to realize that he could self serve his puppy chow.. He's full grown now, weighs over 100 lbs, and we love him to death. I still miss Sam, our 13 year old Labradoodle, but having Ferd here has made things so much easier. And we have Trixie also, our 13 year old Female purebred lab. She is going to be the next one to break our hearts, but there will be a new opportunity for us to give a deserving dog a great, loving home. JW
So funny Jim! My Sister and Brother inlaw lost 2 dogs about 1 and 2 years ago at the age of 15 and 17. They were AKC Setters or Springers of some type and the girls were inseparable.. When one passed the other followed soon. My Brother always got AKC rated hunting breeds for bird hunting and even though he stopped hunting the breed stuck with him. Of course they were devastated like everyone is and finally he knew it was time for another dog to get my Sis out of the funk. She found a rescue in a Georgia shelter and had her shipped to MA.. Jim reminds me so much of your guy Ferdinand.. She's 1/2 Black Lab and 1/2 German Shepard.. I haven't gone to see her yet but my Sis tells me Bella has the stubbier mouth of the Lab but Shepard teeth and it works on her and is wicked cute. Bella has brought them so much joy and love that they never imagined. These dogs always know they were saved don't they
