You would be buying a 4500$ vin number

You can literally make your own custom classic Mustang with the original vin from all new parts. With that said, does that really make it an 'old' or 'classic' car?

Thing that will hold that back from selling is the auto and 3.00 gears. If it was an SCJ or even a "regular" 4 speed CJ with some 3.91s or 4.30s it would've been gone already....dang good option load though. Somebody ordered themselves a killer looking highway cruising car back in the day.

    Lucas,

The options this Mustang was originally ordered with in 1970 is what is holding back the transaction at this point and time? It's almost as if you're suggesting that the buyer needs to recreate the car exactly as ordered (how tags read) so it is some kind of faithful _ _ _ _? If you decide to throw a 9" with 4.30's in you've somehow hurt the 'Stang's pedigree? Looks like all the hurt in the world has already occurred to the remains. :p

Condition be damned. Just dial 1-800-Dynocorn for your "restoration" needs! This type of advertisement shouldn't even be allowed. RIP 428 car...

Every time this topic comes up I do a little more research. One investigator, over a decade ago, suggested a national data base was necessary to track these kinds of things. To little to late. The horse has already left the gate, I'm afraid.

Did Ford use those plain old looking pop rivets?

I don't know on a '70 what the rivets would be, I'm no stock restoration expert for sure. My Mach 1 has a sticker in the door jamb, which is correct for it. My F100 has 3 different body VINs and another on the chassis. My truck "is" a '74. Here's the door VIN off the '75 it has on it and the rear doorjamb decal off the '74 I have a title for....yes the 3.00 gear and C6 are going to kill the value to a Mustang guy, especially a big block Mach 1. Waaaaayyyy more than a Buick GS, that stuff matters. Guys debate bench or buckets, loaded or stripper, A/C or no A/C on a GS. There's no doubt what a '69 or '70 Mach is supposed to be: the drag car. If you want handling you got a Boss or Shelby, if you want luxury you bought a Grande, economy a plain Jane. They had the more touring GT up until '69. Mach 1 is the dragster out of the group... it is ,or at least was, a killer car though, and those colors would look great and not regularly seen. And since they went all the way with A/C to go with the auto and whatnot, its options probably add a lot of value to it. But a stripper 4 speed 3.91 or especially an SCJ 4 speed with 4.30s will blow it away in value....and I'm most certainly not the guy who particularly cares about originality, unless it's something super rare and special like a GSX or a Boss. Leave those kinds of cars alone. Otherwise have at it. I do:D;)
