For some reason, im getting these constant nose bleeds. It's annoying. I've already ruined 3 shirts. It's like a faucet. Every few days, same nostril. At first I thought my nose was running. My ford escape looks like I slaughtered a pig in thd drivers seat bc I didn't have any tissues. And yes, I went to the doctor. Blood pressure is 117 over something- normal. Says I might need blood vessels cauterized. Gotta go to an ENT now....

Max Damage I'm working on it!

Glad too hear you BP is so good. That was my first thought, worry. Hopefully is fixes itself. Sounds annoying though.

Not a doctor, but stayed at a Holiday Inn once. Lol

Don't know how to keep it from happening in the first place, but once it starts, easy way to stop it is to roll up or fold up a small piece of paper towel or napkin tight (maybe about an inch wide, about as big around as a cig filter) and put it in your upper lip under that nostril.(kind of like you're putting a wad of chewing tobacco there) Apparently, there is a blood vessel there and the paper towel will supply pressure and stop the bleeding. No kidding, really works. Shouldn't take long, but would leave it in for a little while, like 15-20 mins or so.

I usually get them during the winter, when it's low humidity. Dries out my nasal passages. Had it happen in Vegas too.

My oldest daughter had spontaneous nose bleeds when she was young, (about 12). Wake up to what looked like a murder scene several times, one time she sneezed and then looked started dribbling. Once bent over to tie her shoe and "woosh".

Took her to a doc and he cauterized a vessel in one nostril up where her brain was supposed to be.
(took all of 15 minute visit)

No more nose bleeds (23 year later), and she pushed three chillen out. (I hear that's like pushing a '76 Estate Wagon with four flat tires, loaded with groveries, uphill, in gear, with a headwind, but it's just something I read on the innernertz.)

Hope yours is a simple thing.

I've had my nose broken 3 times. First time was a baseball to the face. Reset, recovered and didn't have lingering issues. The second time was a nicely executed roundhouse kick to the face. After that the slightest bump and my nose would poor like a faucet. Often times I'd wake up with a blood-saturated pillow. Put off the cauterizing thing for quite a while, and then broke it the third time. Don't think I've had a bloody nose since. Maybe you should go find a big drunk fella and get mouthy.:D

    docgsx It's not a GTX

Go see the doc. Insist on having him send you for an MRA. Check the vasculature in your head around your brain and make sure you don’t have any risk for another vessel busting loose.

If you have this done be sure your insurance covers it as it is an expensive test.

I have had to have my nose cauterized SEVERAL times in my life. And it does NOT even begin to be a pleasant procedure; My problem is that a lot of anesthetics simply don't work, or work long enough on me. Imagine putting your hand on a burner on high heat. Keep your hand there. Now imagine this is inside your nose. I guess it beat having 25-30 nose bleeds a week.
And yes, the square of toilet tissue folded over and rolled up works well. Keep a few squares in your pocket or wallet in a little baggie.
Stress is a big factor some people say.

Man, I can relate. Growing up, I had a nose bleed at the drop of a hat. Blow my nose, bleed. Run too long, nose bleed. My blood pressure is normal and my clotting ability is pretty good. It doesn't happen so much now but it used to be a once a week thing.

Do you eat a lot of garlic, take a lot of aspirin or anything that would thin your blood? I know that if I take baby aspirin as a heart preventative or even those Omega-3 oil capsules, my nose will bleed and so will my gums. Stop and it goes away.

    Good luck!

While your blood pressure may be normal when your doctor checks it, maybe there are times when it is elevated, and that might be why you get them. I had a series of sporadic nose bleeds many years back, and after about a month, they stopped on their own. Haven't had a recurrence.

Then again, if you are one of those guys I see at stop lights with their fingers up their nose to the second knuckle:D, you might have scratched the inside of your nose, and it will bleed until it heals. Get some saline nose spray. It will promote the healing.

I would come in to the conversation, but I have to go take a shower. I was wire brushing rusty crap all morning long. Then it rained. I feel like the Tin man. I can’t help you with your nose bleed but I think WD-40 will help me.
