OK. Im beating my head against the wall. I have a carted 3645 carb on my 401 NH. It is the primary carb in a dual quad setup. I went through both carbs with new gaskets and a good soak in the solvent tank. Blew out all the orfices with compressed air and reassembled them. Heres my prob, when I throttle up the back carb, it doesnt draw ANY fuel out of the booster venturies. The front carb works perfect. The back one I have had apart and back together many many times. If I completely leave out the metering rods I get fuel out of them but the car runs poorly due to the fact that it is then over fueling. I tried switching in known good metering rods and springs but it was the same problem. I put a spare carb on in its place and that one worked perfect. I just dont know what direction to go anymore. Any Carter gurus out there. :blast: I prob woulda melted this one down by now but its a numbers matching dual quad carb. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ray:
There is a guy named Carl DeFasio that rebuilds carter carbs. I don't know how to contact him but its a start. Duane
Carmen does great work - and at a reasonable price. He rebuilt the Carter on my 401 and everything worked perfect right out of the box. No adjustments necessary. Located at 7127 Ward Rd, N. Tonawanda, NY 14120
I appreciate all the info guys. I have talked to Carmen in the past but I didnt know that he was into the carbs too. I will have to give him a call. If he fixes it I might rename my first born Carmen!! :TU:
