All that I did so far was hot-tank it. I planned on powder-coating it,but I almost want to just clear coat it.

Very nice But rust won’t stop under clear. I don’t know why that is. But it will creep and spread. Wipe it with high quality mineral oil

Brian send it out and get it hit with walnuts. Sand basting will ruin it

Yes,I know rust won’t stop under clear. I’ve seen people try the “raw” look,by clearcoating it,and over time, the rust grows.
The convertible frame that I recently sold looked like this before I had it coated.

Is that the handy work of Mr. Ireland?

Yup. He didn’t scrub it or anything. Just put it in the tank like the rest of them.

Yes. He got rid of his helper. He really wasn’t making more money trying to babysit and check everything. One-man show again.

Did his building catch on fire years ago?

No,that place is across town, and it was a building across from that business that had the fire. That place isn’t dipping bodies anymore because they were having too much issues getting the chemical back out from hidden areas, and was leading to paint issues.
    436,
From what I understand,Josh was slowly preparing himself for his own shop, and apparently had already bought a few machines.

Funny how TRUE car guys (me included) get excited over clean steel and iron:D
Coating it with paint or powder would almost ruin the appearance, too bad it isn't stainless steel!

    Mark,
If you think about the 45+ years that this has lasted, and remained like this is somewhat amazing. A true survivor.
