I've been here a short time now, but realize this community really likes to help one another.

I could really use some of that help - I'm pulling my hair out!

I just bought a a great set of 15" x 8" Buick Rallye wheels from a GS owner in SC. Before I purchased I was quoted by UPS about $325 for ground delivery to VA.

Problem is I can't get UPS or FedEx to quote matching prices with their respective stores. The 1-800 quotes are anywhere from $250 - $500, but when I contact the physical stores the prices jump to over $1,300.

Four (4) wheels (w/inflated tires on them)
    52 lbs each
    package dimensions of 27" x 27" x 20"

Need suggestions (other than meeting half way and driving 8 hours to pick them up)...

Got to watch the stores. Got an estimate on the phone to ship and pack something for $150. When I got there they all of a sudden said it's oversized and added $110 for that. I'll never go back to that store.

Try Fastenal. They ship store to store and I'm guessing under $200 for your wheels.

Have the seller strap them to a pallet and ship it through “uship”. Done it many times and it’s super low cost. Shippers will bid on the shipment and you can pick which shipper to do the job for you. I’ve sent engines from Canada to the US for $200

I've helped several guys w/shipping of larger (& even smaller) items and seemingly saved everyone money.

PM me the details: Ship from & Ship to zip codes, weights, dimensions, etc.

Have him dismount the tires and take the wheels to greyhound. Might take a week / 10 days to get there but ya cant beat the price. Last set I shipped was around 100$

UPS Stores are a rip!! I had a package going out to California, went to a UPS Store and their quote was $68.00. I left there and went directly to an actual UPS facility and had my package shipped for $33.00.What's up with that?

UPS stores are independently owned (formerly Mailboxes, etc. stores) so I guess they can set their own prices. Even the $33.00 was probably a lot compared to what I could ship it for on my account & surely the UPS stores are getting a hefty discount off that $33 list price.

I'm happy to check on this for anybody no matter the package size.

    how much?

$475...It was less than the cost of the wheels.
No packaging was required (wrapped in cargo blankets).
Negotiated yesterday, pickup today and deliver tomorrow C.O.D. (fingers crossed).
I think that is a deal in my book, given the other options...
