I just found out at the Nationals last weekend that this is the place to be! So here I am to hopefully soak up some good info. I’ve had my X for 27 years and the anniversary kind of lit a fire in me to start working on it again. I appreciate any future help I may receive.

I have been able to trace it back to the second owner who bought it in 73 when the original owner traded it in on a 73 Riv. I have little info on the 1st owner so not much hope of finding him. I’m getting ready to start looking for a build sheet soon, hopefully I have some luck.

    Hi Bittersweet
What is the factory option load on your 71 GSX?
Is it a non Stage 455 auto car?
    3.08 open or posi axle?
    F41 rear sway bar car?
Is it a factory hood tach car?
    Buckets or bench....?

Welcome - I was the one standing there when you were talking to Mike Sobotka & encouraging you to come on here:). When you get a chance, please share some background on your car and/or any documentation. As you probably know, '71's are tough to prove but if by chance the car was sold new in Canada, docs are available. Worth checking.

The car was sold new in Monticello, Illinois to a guy whose identity I haven't nailed down yet. It was traded in to Service Buick in Champaign, Illinois in 73. The second owner was Richard Hartman from Sadorus, Illinois. He is the reason I don't have the original engine. He blew it up and the dealer put in a crate motor. From there it went to Dennis Dunlap in Paris, Illinois. Someone on here may know him, he operated D&D musclecars , I believe it was called. He sold it to Larry Hall in Charleston, Illinois. Larry sold it to the gentleman I bought it from, I actually don't remember his name. I bought it in 94,sold it to my dad a year later for the down payment money for a GN with the agreement that he would not let it go to anyone but me. He signed it back over to me the week before BG this year,so now it is at its final home until I pass it on to one of my kids. I plan to start looking for a build sheet soon. Other than the info I have gotten from previous owners I don't have any documentation yet. I called the original dealership but of course they have no records from back then.
