Nice find!! It reminds me of the one I had with auto. Love no a/c, love the 4 speed, just love it. I believe it would have come with the brushed/satin look hubcaps that are completely smooth, ramping up from the edge to the center like a cone.
I've got a bunch of parts I'm going to be selling off, as I'm planning to eventually get out of the GS thing. I've got lots of '72 stuff, as that's what all my cars are.
The 72's rule. I prefer the look of them over the 70 and 71, and you don't see so many of them. I like the '72 Chevelle better than the '70 as well.
I was out in the garage today looking at part #'s and date codes on the front end sheet metal. Ran across a date code on the hood that I'm not quite sure how to decipher. Part # 1239816 , date code on left side of hood is stamped 1 u 13. I am assuming the 1 is for 1971, not sure about the u. 13 is either day or week. Opinions? The fenders and core support are all week 13 to week 16 of 1972 .
Congratulations on the great find Larry. I love the '67s and '72s. Please keep us posted. I just looked at the '72 Stage 1 hardtop production figures from Mark M. (GSXNUT) and only 119 of the 728 Stage 1 hardtops had the standard plastic 2-spoke steering wheel (Batwing as some people call it). Also, there were only 31 Silver Mist cars with a black vinyl top.
Gary knows his 72s. Last year walking around a survivor 72 Stage 1, ironically from Tennessee, even Denny Manner said he learned something about the cars. Funny and cool all in one!
31 what??? 31 of the 728 Stage 1's? Or? There is soooo much green in the formula for this color, I find it hard to believe they called it silver. To me, it's not too far off from like a Sea Mist Green.
There were 31 1972 Stage 1 hard tops with Silver Mist paint and a black vinyl top. Here are the numbers pulled from the Buick info at the Sloan Museum by Mark M. (GSXNUT). http://www.stage1registry.com/registry/1972_Stage1_Hardtop.pdf
