motor looks great, David. I am waiting for my heads and my Stage 2 motor will be ready. I live close by, if you ever need help with anything.
Carhell, I thought I new all the buick guys around me. Great to here from ya. Whats your name? Drop me a PM, we live real close. My brother inlaw lives in the woodlands. He bought "LEAVER" after a little arm twisting. We've been working this project for a while now trying to get it running in the next couple weeks. My 69' GS is getting closer as well. It's also a stage2 SE headed motor but with 13:1 and an old 308S cam. Mike at TA did all my block and girdle work. Jeff's motor is the first time we've used the Crower billet cool face edge orifice lifters. These are very hard and will not cup. They also reduce rocker oiling by 30-40% which is fine for T&D rockers. Pressure to the mains should be rock solid on this motor. I go the Woodlands car show most saturday nights. I'd love it if 3 stage2 buicks could show all at the same time. What a chevy shocker that would be.
looks like its only about 2-3 weeks away from hitting the street. :Brow: Just need to order some misc fittings and fuel delivery!! Jeff
Tommy, The mods to the pan are just for fit. The preload hardware has a funky thread that is not correct. Mike replaces this and fixes the angle for the front cover fit. Other mods are just for oil flow control. Not any power here unless you weld in a screen and baffels.
G&G David Just curious why didn't you use G&G for this build up.I just wondering if there is something I need to know. since you've used them in the past. Did you have a bad experience with them.
Allright, Enough idle chit chat. Lets see some video of those beasties in action. Nothing sounds better than a built Buick.
We had Mike Philips prepare the parts and help with the buildup design and we did used chris and Joe to do rest. These heads have been on and off G&G's new SF600 bench a bunch of times during the porting process. Joe did a full tilt job here while chris took the time to carefully set this bad boy up. If Mike where closer to us I'm sure he'd get sick of seeing my ugly mug. The guy is maybe the top buick builder in the country. I have to tell you that no one cares more about your motor then yourself. You must be involved and have a goal in mind. Buicks are very few and far between in my neck of the woods so I take great pride in expanding the buick cause whenever and whereever possible. We will crank it soon enough. Chris is going to come over and break in the cam and install the inner springs. How many engine builders drop thier work load for a few hours just to make sure everything goes perfect. In the Houston area I've only heard of Tommy and Chris doing this. :3gears:
Yahoooooo, sounds like we may just need to go on the same day. We need 20 lenghts and the move :Brow: Jeff says the paint is done. Can't wait to see it.
Car came to life today. Everything worked out great. Cranked on the first turn. Now we just need to install the inner springs and where ready to go. The Engine Master's Cam wants to idle around 1000 rpms. Fairly choppy but not to bad.
Dont forget bout me David. Let me know when you are going to hit the track. I am still waiting for my heads from T/A.
The motor sounds great!!!!!!!! I still need to install inner springs, then break it in easy around the block for about an hour of run time. Then take off the small Holley used for brake-in and put my big DEMON on and install my permanent fuel lines. Then well take it for a blast and see how much tire I have left!! :beer :3gears: Jeff
Brought to life We started the Buick about 2 weeks ago!!! Just trailered it to have the exhaust welded and buttoned up.. Now she really sounds good, not too lopey, but very potent!!! Jeff :Brow: :TU:
