I’m sure this is an absolutely redundant thread in this forum, but I’d like to talk to some of you about advantages or disadvantages of rebuilding the Q-jet that came on my factory BBB 455 in the 1973 Deuce and a Quarter I bought about a month ago.

I’m putting on the Edelbrock Performer intake manifold

Comp Cams 268H grind (also doing timing set, lifters, and springs)

    Dougs long tube headers

Im not looking for crazy power, just trying to wake it up a bit. I don’t have the coin for TA Stage 1 heads yet unfortunately, Don’t really want to spend $600+ on a brand new carb if I don’t have to. New rear gears are in my sights as well. Thanks in advance!

Welcome. The general consensus is that you're best off w/your orig. Q-jet. Lots of tips & tricks to rebuilding them and a few guys on here that also do it as a service.

Thank you! And yes, I’d love to talk to someone about any books that are available or possibly having it done for me. I’m very new to carbuerators and I’ve heard q-jets can be a bit of a nightmare for beginners.

Yes, no need to abandon your original Qjet. You can rebuild it with a kit and written instructions available online. Plenty of power potential and decent fuel mileage too.
