    Hello,
I need a new top for my 1969 GS convertible and I wanted to find out what I need beyond a good quality top. Mines not vinyl, but more fabric and I need the glass window as well. Any advise would be great. I don't plan on doing it myself however. I just want it to come out great.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Go to an Electron or Robbins authorized dealer. They can buy what is need at a fraction of your cost. You can get some of that savings while retaining your warranty. . Call Electron for a list of authorized dealers in your area. Many other pieces like pads will be needed. Shop around. Prices will vary a lot.

Flynbuick and the rest. Looks like I'm going Robbins. What is a Floating Rear Bow. Rare Canadian type? Also, how much should I expect to pay with new parts, installation and cotton not vinyl? Unlike, KIWI I'm working with real money here.

    Thanks,
    Mike

In the U.S. the total for a complete redo installed using a premium top like Robbins may approach $2000.00. I would not try to buy the parts, including the top. Let the shop supply those.

Ok. The Robbins top installed is going to be $2500. That's a little too steep right now. I have a couple different shops that can install one for $400, so I think I am going to go that route.

Another almost related question? Does the GS top boot attach the same way as the Skylark? The boots on ebay don't appear to have snaps and the ad talks about a better way plastic strip? I'm lost with this?

    Thanks,
    Mike

Legendary is where I got mine. Ordered it with the snap kit. They can't pre install as it may vary from one car to the next. Have to make sure you let them know how many snaps. Comes with tool and instructions.

So you got quoted for $400 of labor and $2100 for the complete top parts? You usually change the top ,window curtain, pads, cable wire and trunk well liner all rubber weather seals around it that actualy secure the top to the frame.
