Thinking of building another 455 I have a 1975 455 and I have a set of 430 heads number 1231109 this will be a project this summer, just looking for a little info,I know aluminum heads would be best but there backordered so would like to use what I have, and thing special I need to know to put these heads on and what year are they and looking to build around 500 hp motor if someone has a good combo.any help appreciated

Should be no problem using the 430 heads. You'll wanna make sure you use an early intake also. Recently built the "blue block" 455 from a mix of spare / left over parts and it seems to run fine.

    I wouldn't use the 1109s myself,..the 67/69 heads are prone to cracking

But to answer your question you will need to block the hole in the driver front of the deck and use the later rockers and open push rods

    Ray,
To get to 500 HP, you'll need ported heads if you want something reasonably streetable.

The 75 block should not have the oil feed up to the deck. I just went from the 68 430 heads to the S1 TA alum and all I did was put some sealer around the oil ports on the deck and set the head gaskets on there. No issues

Thanks for the replies what I have now is a 1970 motor with 10.1 with a ta212 cam edelbrock intake 750 speed demon carb stock exhaust manifolds 2 inch exhaust and 342 gears looking for something with alittle more power I have this extra block and heads and looking for a good cam for it would like power brakes to work and streetable. The heads will be ported.if I need roller rockers I would be okay with that.

My plan would be to pay a pro to port the heads, use the flow numbers and car specs to order a custom camshaft from Scotty Brown.

A true 10:1 or stk pistons.......they were not close to 10 without alot of cutting of heads or block

What is your budget? Have you considered buying something already together? You can save a substantial amount of time, money , and grief. If you just want more power, add a nitrous plate kit, cheap power.
