OK, 2 questions but first, good talking to you. We haven't really chatted since my engine build.

Actually, I just put my 69 into my buddies shop for some goodies ( tach, drive shaft safety loop, carb tuning, oil leak, re-doing my ignition timing .. bringing it in sooner ... cha chingg)

With a 18 month old son, my car time is limited and I'd rather pay a few bucks to tweak it now that I did the hard work and spend my time driving it!!!!:TU:

Well the 70' i got for a song and a dance( which is why i bought it) and its out in CA right now at a family members place. its pretty ruff but solid. Its a future project that won't get started for some time even when it finially makes it out hear. Looking to be a family project in the years to come. I have 4 little ones ranging from 17 months to 9 years old. My two older ones are boys so I'm hoping they will get involved in the next one along with My brother inlaw that is finishing a REALLY nice 69' RAIV GTO right now.
    Good luck with yours

Yeah 3.73's are fun around town but they suck big time on the interstate. I got tired of being passed by everyone so I went too 3.08's and am much happier. Still have plenty of grunt on the bottom end and mid range. Buick 455 tork makes running highway gears very easy.

I don't think they suck at all on the Highway. This is a weekend fun car. I don't need to drive 70 mph on the hwy in it nor would I, thats what my daily driver is for.

3.73's and the Gear Vendors is the ultimate. 2.91's with the GV engaged, and 2.77's with 28" tires.

I hear you Larry. That may be another mod for me down the line> I know thats what you run. Did you do the install or did you have someone do it?

I"m already thinking maybe putting aluminum heads on or do the GV mod???????
yep the car is never done and its only money

Rob Chilenski is a GV dealer. He did the install for me including modifying my crossmember and getting a new drive shaft made.

I drive mine to other states, not just around the block. And yes going 80 down the interstate with 3.73's does suck. Been there done that.

Your missing the point:spank: . But since you think 3.73 "suck" so much my Z71 Suburban handles to 85mph on the HWY without breaking a sweat!

My one ton dually with 3.73 cruises right along at 70-80 in air conditioned comfort . If needed will run 100 but a bit scary as it is not real aerodynamic with the trailer behind it .

What"point"? I said in my first post that 3.73's are fun around town. If you plug the numbers into a handy formula that calculates RPM at a given speed then 336/26.6 x 3.73 x 80 MPH equals 3769 RPM's at 80 and thats not including convertor slip. Its been awhile but I remember my RPM's were somewhere around there. Way too much for me so hence the suckage on the interstate in a NON OVERDRIVE vehicle.
