I have a 69 Skylark; went out to start it up and nothing. Dash light comes on but no crank. I’m thinking neutral safety switch, so I disconnected the back drive rod in order to make sure it’s in park. Still nothing. I checked the neutral safety switch to see if the tab is broken (no). Can I run a jumper wire to the two purple wires?
I converted from a column shifter to floor shifter a few years ago, sometimes I have to shift to drive then back to park to get it to start, due to the back drive not being perfectly aligned.

Yes you can. That's basically what the switch does if working properly.

The neutral safety switch is adjustable. If it out of adjustment, it will do what your experiencing. Try wiggling the shifter while you crank it

Tried to jump pass neutral safety switch, still didn’t work, checked the tab and it was not broken, took the back drive rod off and still nothing. Just on a fluke I push the horn and nothing. I turn the lights on and got out to look, no lights. I put in a new battery and it fired right up. The battery that was in the car is a red-top optimum battery, purchase date 06/22. When I last drove the car I disconnected the battery after putting it in the garage. So there wasn’t a parasitic drain.

Optima batteries now are not the same as they were a decade ago. Nearly every optima we sell dies within it's warranty period.
