I have done my research in the 1967 Buick Chassis manual and as I interpret the chart on rear end ratios my 67 GS 400 Convertible with auto trans and 446677xxxxx VIN is a 2.93 axle ratio. Appreciate anyone out there confirming my analysis. I can't get to the car right now as it is in the paint shop so I can't read the numbers/letters on the rear axle. I did confirm it was a Posi right after I bought it. Thanks,
That may be the standard ratio but it would not tell you if it came optioned that way or had been changed during the 50 plus years since delivery.
2.93 was the standard ratio in a '66 GS with auto as well. It would be logical that would carry over to 1967. The '65 GS came with a 3.08 standard. Wonder why they changed for '66?
Yep, the only true way /....we say this time and time again. OPEN the rear when you get it back and physically check it . .. out diameter of the ring will have the part number tooth count of ring AND pinion and date code if your lucky. Jim J D
