All ya have to do is ask............... 3 = Oldsmobile G = Cutlass 37 = 2dr coupe ( cutlass ) K = 350-4bbl 3 = 1973 M = Lansing assembly xxxxxx = Vin sequence 73 = 1973 3 = Olds Division AG ( not A6 ) = Cutlass Body Platform 37 = 2dr Coupe LAN = Lansing 12944 = Build sequence 947 = White Vinyl Bucket Seat 42, 42 = Emerald Green upper & lower Body color 7D = 4th week of July AN7 = Swivel , Front Bucket D55 = Front Console I also spent a few months at a Olds Dealership.... :TU: David
Not in the VIN. But they were built on a Cutlass S body "3AG37" Maybe this will help.... Built on the Cutlass "S" body style. Slanted rear glass and large rear quarter windows - not the Cutlass Supreme w/opera-like quarter windows & notch back roof. The 442 was just an option package, coded W-29, and costing $120.00. It was not availble on the Supreme. This W-29 option gave you emblems, H.D. suspension, front and rear swap bars, and grille that was blacked out with large silver pleats done vertically - about 4 to a side. A special fiberglass hood with louvers, and stripes down the hood, fenders, panels, and trunk lid. These dual Stripes go over the hood and deck, but not the roof. You could have bucket or bench seats. This year's 442 does not have to have gauges, sport steering wheel, swivel bucket seats w/console, SSII wheels, or dual exhausts. These were options on any Cutlass S, but not standard on a 442.
I know the numbers mean a lot to people. Kept the archived division files and records for decades. Just to old anymore. I was oftered money for the records but I let a fellow gm and America lover I trust take them for history of the general. GM was the greatest company of all time and represaented America at its best. I was proud to be part of gm until I retired. Many good memories.
FYI I have several parts for that car 442/s model nice black dash, good 73 350 rocket engine, original radio with woodgrain knobs and taillight assemblies that are excellent condition. power window set up and complete wiring harness in great shape
Sorry didn't see this Ive been sick.I was speaking of The gm order, production, shipping documents for post war gm divsions upto 81.some paper and some film and some both. The troube with gm is not gm it has been caused by politicians law makers and judges that have never produced anything in their lives. Communists at heart, most of them.
As I love production figures and like to learn more about details on cars from this era, I would love to learn more about this info you have.
Hope you are feeling better..... What GM documentation do you have for Buicks in 1968? I am a documentation nut and I love this type of info... :beers2:
