Need help identifying this metal box that I came across after removing my rear bench seats in my 72 skylark 350. Its a square metal box mounted by two screws towards the top, as well as two 9/16's bolts running through the bottom of the box into the trunk. I removed the screws and bolts that fastened assembly but still arent able to remove it. It'l wiggle around now but There's something attached to the bottom of the metal box that must be running somewhere. Cant get it out enough to tell what it is. Box is pictured as an attachment on this post. PLEASE HELP ME IDENTiFY IT AND SHARE ANY OTHER INFO OR DETAILS YOU MIGHT KNOS ABOUT IT! Thanks for the help.
Its part of the evap system. Should have hoses on the underside of it going to the tank. Hoses should be able to be seen from under the car. Shop manual should show it in the emissions section.
Yup, it's a gasoline fume / liquid separator, keeps the vent lines from puking liquid gasoline up into the charcoal canister. Best left in place (and check the condition of the tank vent hoses underneath) unless you're stripping the car down for a racer.
