Found this in the springs under the rear seat cushion. Have much of it figured out but am stumped on the 2 C and 5 O codes. Anybody know what those codes mean ? Thanks for any help.

Hi Tom ! How was the 50th anniversary get together ? Sorry I couldn't make it.

Custom Padded Cushion what ? LOL And then what is 3 C ? Finally, if seat belts were not installed I presume that ALL cars had the attaching points installed by Fisher body so that they could be added later.

Dan, those Fisher build sheets were in 66's too.
Were those codes listed in the 65GS.com thread a few months ago?

Walt, I must have missed that thread over there. Can you supply a link ? Can't seem to find it there.

    Dan,
The cushion is a reference to the seat cushion. Your car must have been built with a seat option which was an upgrade from the standard seat.
Seat belts were mandatory standard equipment beginning on Jan 1 1964 so I suspect all `65 Buicks were built assuming the installation of seat belts. I suspect the required hardware/anchor points are there.

Great info Tom! Where do you find this stuff??

Dan, Jon posted this list of codes. It's not 100% complete tho.

Here is a little more info on the seat belt delete and 3C codes, posted by John V in post #17:

Group 5, Code O - Seat Belt Delete option. GM made seat belts standard content for the two outboard front seat positions in Jan 1964. From that point forward, you could order the delete option as long as the state where the dealer was located did NOT have a mandatory seat belt law. The credit was $11 on the Window Sticker, a few die hards that didn't want the Gov't telling them what to do ordered their cars without the belts.

Group 3, Code C - Sometimes seen on Tempests in '64 from the Kansas City Plant (which was a Chevy controlled Plant). On a '64/'65 Malibu, Chevy used this code for the Instrument Panel Pad option. Never seen it on a Pontiac Plant produced '64. Not always used on the '64 KC Tempests with the Instrument Panel Pad option but may have indicated that option when used, perhaps a coding anomaly. Does your GTO have this option?
