Need 455 parts identified

    Hey Fernando, I’m selling the rods and pistons right now and I’m getting a lot of questions about this setup and you have experience doing an engine build like this. What needs to happen to the standard Buick crank to make this setup work? Any other mods or things to know? Thank you

    Chris, you are going to need a machine shop that can measure the crank, the rods and the pistons for you. Need to measure what stroke it is and journal sizes on the crank, then the big end, the small end and the length on the rods. Measure pin height on the pistons and diameter. With this info you can determine what you have and what fits what. Those 4.320 rings should probably be used with those pistons if they are a match, because the ring lands will probably be different on another set or brand of pistons. I know the 4.320 bore will work with a 455 Buick but everything else has to fit together or need to be machined to work together. By the look of those pistons, which I have never seen before (I don't know anything about boosted application) but the other guys say it is for supercharge motor, which normally means lower compression. If the seller of those parts did their homework, you might have a nice combination but the low compression part of that combo will kill the performance on a naturally aspirated motor. Sorry, if I can't be any help, but without real measurements numbers everyone will be lost.

    Thank you Fernando, here are some simple measurements of the pistons, but yeah I’ll tell my buyer that’s the best thing to do is have his engine builder or machinist make a game plan and measure everything out and see if it makes sense for his build.
