I've got a '70 GS motor that I was gonna work this winter and put into my white granny mobile so I could give you a fair run for your money, BUT I went and bought a new car instead. :Brow: I'll probably work all this racing stuff up and chicken out once I get there! Dee
I am still working the motor and everything else. my car will be there for sure but racing? I hope I will get a chance to try out the motor for at least the test and tune portion of the event. I have got my 70 GS 350 motor with ported heads from Jim burek, TA intake, qjet, and hopefully a GS 114 cam for now. and a good set of 342's and still possibly painting the car to boot. lots of work not a lot of time. we will see you there dee race ready or not... PS Dee Lets see how the turn out is this time and I will try and see If I can get us some tee shirts.. one of the local austin buick guys is a graphic designer so he has offered to help us on tee shirts if I can get enough people to attend to make it work... the cost/payoff... Lets make sure all the texas people check in and at least see this thread.
I'd love to attend! Hopefuly I'll have the 2NABOT roadworthy by then, just have to keep after it :spank: . I take it this is a "just-for-us-Buick-types" weekend event, bring the grill, chairs, and cooler? I've never driven on a track, it'd be nice to do so surrounded by nice Buick-type people, that way you'll only laugh at me for an hour or two when I pull a newbie :moonu:
I used "IView" to shrink the photos, then "Gif Animator" to put them all together into an animated avatar. Both softwares are available at the site http://www.alwaysfreeware.co.uk/graphics.html Enjoy! :beer
Hey, Dee! Whereabouts in North Texas are you, anywhere near Denton? We used to live there and work in Dallas :spank: , still have lots of good friends in that area, some of them smart enough to drive Buicks! :bglasses:
I live in Corinth and work in Lewisville. Who do you know that lives in the Denton area? I don't know anyone in my area that drives Buicks but know of a couple of people that have white convertible Skylarks like mine. One guy lives one house down from my house in Lewisville and the other guy is the one I got mine from 15 years ago. Don't think either is really "into" Buicks big like us. The guy I got my car from has had quite a few Skylarks. Dee
Randy and Leslie Johnson in Sanger, John Lewis in Denton, (major gearhead) Steve Probst in Denton (has a British car repair shop on 377, works on MG's, triumphs, etc) John Allday in Denton, used to work with Steve P. now works in Arlington on brit-cars. Alan Chamberlain in Denton, owns Trinity Roofing and a bunch of folks at Grace Temple Baptist church... btw, The guy who owns (or used to, it's been a few years since I've seen him) the old Texaco oil change shop across the loop from the Target store was big-time into the local chapter of the Buick Club of America, and had several really sharp Buicks, including a near-perfect cream-colored '65 Riviera. That BCA chapter used to meet down in Dallas at the antique car consignment place across from Love field.
Hopefully we'll have our 66 together by then and be able to hurtle down the track a few times for its maiden voyage. Or maybe just do a few 1/2 smokey burnouts with the legpeg action kicking in full on pirate fashion. Either way we're coming and I'll still be happy to coordinate some kind of chow arrangements so long as it involves grilling up a storm and serving beans from a 50 gallon vat. Mmm-k maybe not that last part but Ive got a new propane grill that ive been thinking about putting the squeeze on for faster cooking and can grill for 30-40 people that saturday. Thats an a$$load of meat so if yall want T-bones and Filets you bring em I'll burn em. Just call me chef: boy-am-I-hungry
Sweetness! For now we'll plan on bringing enough dogs & burgers to feed 50 peeps as well as a stack of first come items like chicken and brats. We've done it quite a few times for other gatherings so If there is a way to keep us updated on a general number of people there we will definately have enough supplies. Mmm.. Lesse.. We'll do paper plates, sodas and condiments also and just stick out a donation jar for anyone who has a few quarters to donate to the cause. Really its cheap enough to feed that many folks to not care about costs. Its all about Buicks & BBQ. That kind of has a ring to it eh?
sounds like a good idea... The donation thing is the way to go... reason the track has a concession stand and may not be happy otherwise. We may also put together a donation/collection before hand to pay for the food . Cost of food was minimal for the amount of food we had last year. We had about 40+ people last year and expect a few more this year.
Oooo.. Yea definately dont want to stiff the track. Maybe mention that we're going to do it so they arent surprised. I dont think they'll mind if we just do the one club oriented feeding frenzy. They'll still make plenty off of us in beer sales.
Jason, we did a bbq last year as well but everything was covered ahead of time. We can do the same this year with no problem. I just want to make sure we are not selling there at the track... donations for food is fine. So If you want to donate for the bbq let me know. As far as the track goes... April is defenetly a go... I will know the date next week. The same senario will happen like in september the event is a 10.5 tire with street class event stay tuned for more info. :beer
I have not found a car yet but if the dates are right I might bring the HOG down and meet you guy's. That is if Harley's are allowed. If not I can bring the Yugo.
