Here it is after her maiden voyage home from the shop. About 35 miles through traffic and some interstate. 160 Thermostat was a good move. Temps today were about 85 deg. When fully warmed up in town it ran about 180-185. On the highway at 70 MPH it locked in at 175 and didn't move. Idling at long traffic lights only climbed to about 190 max. and came back down in a block or two. Happy with that. I'll post many more pics later tonight.
LOL, true. Sleeper refers to the engine bay appearing totally stock 350 HP including the painted aluminum heads.
Here's Block Inspection and Sonic Test. Cylinders were clean needing only .008 honing. Sonic Test verified block was Good for this build.
Ported Exhausts Manifolds. Original outlets 2 in. now 2.4 in. plus ports opened up and surface milled flat.
And finally, external components. Notice the LT1 light weight hi torque starter. Bolts right in with bolts provided with the part. Went in with no shims. Saves weight. Car weighs about 100 lbs. less than with the old engine.
That looks great Ray. The Engine Book that Jim provides with all his engine builds is something I have never seen from any other builder. It is an awesome resource for now and the future. Any real road testing yet?
Sure is, Larry. I knew Jim was a very thorough guy but didn't expect the book he put together on my build. No real road test yet. I'm gonna drive it again today with the fuel pressure gauge monitor to make sure my fuel system is prividing enough at the top end of the gears. I haven't been into the back two barrels of the QJ yet. It blows up the tires with any kind of throttle in 2nd gear as it is. Don't think these Radial TAs will be on the rear for much longer. Fun, fun, fun.
